With the Birth of Skype into the world
of Information Systems, Skype has proved to be User friendly with no installation
hassles. Skype is downloadable as free Software. The benefit of computer voice calls via the
internet is that it allows the user to call regardless of distance.
Cost component is major concern in this
competive world.Skypes calls are free from Skype to Skype, and less expensive
from Skype to phone. not only provides
the user convenience but also saves money.
Skype has advantages over other collaborative
tools as any missed calls (either domestic or international) from a computer
can be routed to mobile phones as a call divert which is optional.
Another special feature of Skype is its
ability to make video calls and also the easy to transfer files quickly from
one person’s account to another person’s computer.
The brilliant innovation of Skype has made
communicating easier and has broken down a number of barriers such as distance,

The disadvantages of Skype is that it requires your computer to be turned on and the
software up and running in order to make calls and also as it prevents you from
making and receiving calls when your computer is off.
Limited options exist for individuals who
would like to use a typical land-line telephone with the Skype software other
than a corded USB phone. Skype officially endorses only two types of
traditional land-line telephones that can be used with its service: the
cordless RTX Dual phone handset and the Belkin Desktop Internet phone. Special Phones
are made for Skype users that use Wi-Fi technology.
The other issue is the idea of Skype subscribers
who has difficulty using Skype customer service and the non-existence of
contact customer number and only an online help form that allows users to
submit a support request.

Even in comparation of advantages to Disadvantages Skype is a good collaborative tool with full short comings.In my analysis Skype needs to work extra hard in the Customer services, come up with more Three Dimensional virtuals world versions.
